Robison Wells has been a wargamer since he was nine years old, starting with little green army men before diving into Harlequins and Squats. Since then he has collected everything from Warhammer 40k to Bolt Action to Star Wars Legion to Warmachine.

Along the way he developed a passion for writing. He is a New York Times bestselling author of thrillers and science fiction, most notably the Variant series. He is the managing editor of The Wargame Explorer and has run the site since May of 2021.
