Games Workshop has announced eight new Warhammer 40k Christmas boxes (2022) and there is a lot of pretty incredibly stuff in them. (For reference, we talked about the 2021 Christmas boxes here.) While we haven’t yet seen the price point, I have gone through each box and determined it’s value. All of them are in the range of $300 to $350, so if they’re going to be priced around $250 that’s a good deal.
(And honestly, these are great deals for starting your Warhammer 40k army no matter which one you choose. We’ll talk about that more in a bit.)

Warhammer 40k Christmas Boxes 2022: What’s the Best Value?
You can see the prices for all of them, but what is the best value? And we’re not talking about dollar value, but about the value of the actual value in terms of starting an army?
The Primarchs and Leaders
It’s clear that this year–for the first time ever–the Warhammer 40k Christmas boxes were designed to include leaders and HQ units of the armies. This is the first we have ever seen Morvenn Vahl and Tor Garadon in boxes, but bigger than that is this is the first time that we’ve seen Mortarion and Magnus the Red in Christmas boxes. And the remarkable thing is that it doesn’t seem to change the value of the box.
I was afraid, when I’d heard there might be Primarchs, that we’d get a box of Mortarion and a bunch of Poxwalkers. But, no, we get Mortarion and two squads of Plague Marines and a squad of Blightlord Terminators. And the same goes for the Thousand Sons where we don’t just get a bunch of crummy Tzaangors, but we get two full squads of Rubric Marines.
Overall, I think that the Custodes box and the Knights box are the strongest of the bunch, just because they get you so close to having a viable army, but most of the boxes do that, to be fair. The only boxes that I feel are really let-downs are the Raven Guard box (I like Reivers well enough, but TWO Invictor Warsuits?) and the Adeptus Mechanicus Christmas box (but that just may be my personal dislike of Kataphron).
Warhammer 40k Christmas Boxes 2022–What Will the Price Be?
I’ll update this when we have information, but I’d guess the price is going to be around $250 for each box, which will be a good savings.
