So, I made it almost all the way to 850 days. I was so determined that I was not going to let the hobby streak die. I took my miniatures with me when I traveled, when I stayed in hotels on day trips and when I crossed an ocean to stay in Edinburgh. I kept up the hobby streak through the worst of things, going out of my way to do at least a little painting (I spray painted a sprue) on the day I was in a rollover accident.
And then it just… died? I don’t know what happened to it.
But I think a lot of us can probably relate to hobby slumps. If you’ve followed me long enough you’ll know I’ve written about them before (here and here). I’m a writer and when you’re a writer they call it writer’s block. When you’re a miniature painter they call it… painter’s block? Hobby block?
Whatever it is, it happened and I didn’t even realize it. I just one day didn’t post a photo online. I still painted a lot, on and off at least, but I wasn’t posting my daily Hobby Streak posts on Instagram, and that’s a big part of it. No photos, no accountability, no hobby streak.
But I’m back with this Sword Brethren of the Order of the Golden Crows. This is Hobby Streak Day One. I’m committed and I’m back.
