(UPDATE: As of December 4th, the Christmas Boxes are available on Games Workshop’s website. You can find them at some local game stores, but allocation is TIGHT.)
(UPDATE: As of Sunday, November 28th, 2021, Games Workshop has announced that these boxes will go up for preorder on Decmeber 4th, 2021. We should have more pricing updates coming in the next day or two.)
Along with presenting us with the Warhammer 40k Christmas boxes, which we have broken down by value here, Games Workshop has announced four Age of Sigmar Christmas boxes for 2021. I must admit that while I am actively looking for a new army to paint, and Age of Sigmar really has my interest, none of these four boxes really do anything for me. Considering all the Age of Sigmar factions they had to choose from, these four seem a meager (and unusual) choice. (Most surprising is the lack of Stormcast Eternals, as they seem to be the Space Marine in-every-combo-pack army.)
But are they a good value? We’re going to break down each box by its components if bought separately.
Battleforce: Soulblight Gravelords
Revenant Legion
I really like the new Soulblight Gravelords, even though I’ve never been a big vampire fan. But I love the undead generally–zombies and skeletons especially–so you would think I would like this box. But… there just isn’t enough variety. I get that the force might be enticing to very specific players, but: 40 Deadwalker Zombies? 40? Really?
The box breaks down like this:
1 Vengorian Lord – $60
5 Blood Knights – $60
20 Deathrattle Skeletons – $60
40 Deadwalker Zombies – $110
Total: $290
Value: 145%
Battleforce: Hedonites of Slaanesh
Sybarite Blade-Carnival
I admit, this box just makes me laugh because if anything says “Christmas” less than “Hedonites of Slaanesh”, it’s “Blade-Carnival.”
This box does not do the slightest thing for me, but, admittedly, I have never had an interest in Slaanesh.
3 Slaangor Fiendbloods – $50
10 Blissbarb Archers – $50
5 Exalted Seekers – $65
10 either Mymirdesh Painbringers or Symbraesh Twinsouls – $120
Total: $285
Value: 142.5%
Battleforce: Lumineth Realm-Lords
Vanari Shining Host
Of the battleforces, this is the one that I am the most interested in, which surprises me because I’ve never really been into Lumineth Realm-Lords. Maybe it’s just my current hobbying trend, but I am really liking the armor and especially the Dawnriders… Still can’t get over the headdresses, though.
10 Vanari Auraln Wardens – $60
5 Bladelords – $60
5 Dawnriders – $60
1 Starshard Ballista – $50
1 Vanari Bannerblade – $35
1 Lord Regent – $55
Total: $320
Value: 160%
Battleforce: Ossiarch Bonereapers
Mortisan Tithe-Echelon
For as much as I really love the Grand Alliance of Death, and especially Deathrattle Skeletons, you’d think I’d have more love for the Ossiarch Bonereapers. And, I was until I bought some Morghasts and painted them and hated every bit of it. But, your mileage may vary. (That said, one of my prize collections is Katakros, Mortarch of the Necropolis.)
1 Mortisan Boneshaper – $30
1 Soulreaper – $30
20 Mortek Guard – $60
3 Necropolis Stalkers (or Immortis Guard) – $50
1 Gothizzar Harvester – $50
1 Mortek Crawler – $80
Total: $300
Value: 150%

Conclusion
So, it appears that the Lumineth Realm-Lords are really the winners of this, but everything is about equal. None of these lists are really BAD, except I don’t find any value in the Hedonites of Slaanesh. They don’t bring any of their really good-looking units to the table in these battleforces. But the other three all have a few charms. I likely won’t get any of them, but if you’re a collector, the Age of Sigmar Christmas Box is always a bonus.
(Now watch me, I’ll buy two or something.)
